J&S Drilling has started work on the 2019 resource evaluation drilling PQ Core program in the Northern Territory. The Scope of Work includes some 94 x PQ cored boreholes ranging from 30m to 100m depth. The project aim is to provide mine resource evaluation data for long term planning. The project is projected to continue until the wet season begins.

Drill Rig rebuild

After undergoing an extensive in-house rebuild,  another one of our J&S Drilling Edson 3000 (R7) has been modernised to maintain industry standards and expectations. This rebuild included redesigning some key components including: reducing the carbon footprint of the drill rig, breakout system capable for a larger variety of drill rod types and sizes supporting a Multi purpose functionality of the Edson 3000. Improved flow rates and torque to accommodate a broader range of ground conditions and sampling methods.  The rebuild also incorporated a detaield review of reliable fittings and parts to maintain our reputation for operational reliability in the field.

Project KPI’s

The resource evaluation drilling PQ Core program KPI’s, for the project are being acheived. With no Safety related incident recorded, over 95% core recovery being achieved while maintaining maximum core quality. Over 95% mechanical availability is being delivered and the client is happy!

Excellent performance by the crews!

Constructed with 50mm PVC piezo tubes

Some PQ cored boreholes for the resource evaluation drilling PQ Core program will be selected for geotechnical assessment. Insitu testing including uTubes and SPT will be undertaken at the direction of the supervising engineer. Upon final depth being reached some boreholes will be constructed with 50mm PVC piezo tubes. Piezos will be developed to maximise the connection to the aquifer ensuring ongoing reliability of water monitoring data Piezos will be completed with a lockable steel borehead.
